#Iam1of110000 : Putting a Face to Parkinson’s

The #Iam1of110000 art project was born from a deeply personal experience with Parkinson’s and the determination to change the narrative surrounding it.

Since being diagnosed, I’ve often heard the phrase, “You don’t die from Parkinson’s.” But that sentiment doesn’t capture the reality of living with the disease—the way it erodes not just physical abilities, but confidence, independence, and joy.

I witnessed this firsthand as I watched my mother battle Parkinson’s. Her world slowly imploded. She became too self-conscious to leave her home, retreating in shame from a disease she never asked for. She hid from the world, silenced by stigma, until her passing.

After my own diagnosis, I realized this wasn’t the life I wanted to live. It was clear: we need to make noise, break the stigma, and shine a light on the faces of Parkinson’s.

#Iam1of110000 is about reclaiming identity and dignity. It’s a platform to share stories, raise awareness, and remind the world that Parkinson’s is more than just a diagnosis—it’s a journey faced by real people, each with their own voice, struggles, and triumphs.

Together, we can challenge perceptions, celebrate resilience, and ensure no one feels compelled to hide in silence. It's time to stand up, speak out, and put a face to Parkinson’s.

We promote awareness and support for those affected by Parkinson's disease through various initiatives.
